Essential Information and Key Topics on the NDIS
To be eligible for the NDIS, you must be under 65, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have a permanent and significant disability that impacts your ability to perform daily activities.
You can create your NDIS plan by working with an NDIS planner or support coordinator. Review your goals, identify necessary supports, and track your progress regularly to ensure your plan is working for you.
The NDIS provides supports in three main areas: Core Supports (daily living), Capacity Building Supports (skill development), and Capital Supports (assistive technology and home modifications).
Look for providers who align with your goals, values, and budget. Ask for recommendations, read reviews, and check their NDIS registration status to ensure they meet your needs.
Your NDIS plan is reviewed regularly, typically every 12 months. You can request a review earlier if your needs change. Contact the NDIS to schedule a plan review when needed.
If your plan includes Capital Supports, you can access funding for assistive technology and home modifications. Discuss your needs with your NDIS planner or provider to arrange suitable solutions.
